St. Patrick's Day Party

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, now is the time to start planing your get together!Amanda's Parties to Go and I teamed up to help make the festivities easy and fun for you! With theFREE St. Patrick's Day Printable Set, the party a breeze to style.

I created a colorful sweet/snack table for the kids with a rainbow backdrop made out of ribbons and displayed the banner from the set. Using the icons from the printable set, I creates the center pieces for the the sweet table and the kids table.

Circle tags included in the set and ribbon were used to dress up the candy containers. I also used the tags to embellish the popcorn containers. The rainbow flags were added on the kabobs sticks and lollipops for an extra pop of color.

As for healthy snacks, the guests enjoyed leprechaun whole wheat sandwiches, rainbow fruit kabobs, veggies and orange juice. After their lunch, the children had fun making rainbow necklaces and finding gold coins around the backyard. It was finally time to enjoy some sweets! Rainbow cupcakes, M&M's, Hershey's kisses, lollipops and cinnamon popcorn were enjoyed by all!

Instead of the traditional rainbow and pot of gold favor, I created a cute favor by dressing up green pails using cupcake wrappers, filling them with gold coins and finishing up by adding a rainbow lollipop. Each child also took home a rainbow notebook, rainbow crayons, shamrock necklace, shamrock headband and tattoos.

I hope these ideas and the FREE printable set offer help you plan your own St. Patty's Celebration!

Crayon Shamrock

What a cool project! With wax crayon shavings, some wax paper, string and an iron you can make these beautiful shamrock!  It is really cool how the sun streams right through them.  Great project to try out with the children!

Material: wax papaer, kraft paper or any other kind of paper, iron and green crayons.
Cut a piece of the wax paper and fold and half; unfold. Deposit wax-crayon shavings (made with a handheld pencil sharpener) evenly but not thickly across one half of the paper. Fold the clean half of the paper over the shavings. Protect your ironing surface with kraft paper. Place the waxed paper on the kraft paper, and cover it with another sheet of kraft paper. Iron lightly on medium heat, checking after every few passes. Stop when all the shavings have melted; let cool. Next, trace and cut out clovers of various sizes(I used cookie cutters). String each clover with a silk thread for hanging.

the heat from the iron made a cool shade of green!

Leprechaun Trap

My second grader came home last week with the project of making the best ever Leprechaun Trap! After  hours of brain storming we came up with this cute trap!

The Leprechaun will be attracted to this trap since we displayed all his favorite things! Rainbow, since he knows that at the end of any rainbow he will find a pot of gold! A lot of clovers, an Irish flag(he loves the colors of the flag) and also we added a no Leprechaun allowed sign since they love to disobey! Once the leprechaun climbs the ladder, he will fall into the trap!

Once inside the trap, he will fall into a cushion chair and bounce out to enjoy some of his favorites: rice and tea! My daughter made sure to have a comfy bed for him to take a nap and she added some gold to make him happy!
