Gingerbread House Party

Our Girl Scout Troop celebrated the Holiday Season with a gingerbread house decorating party filled with fun and sweets!

I pre-built the houses ahead of time to save on the frustration of building them at the party so the girls could go straight to the fun part - decorating them!

I got the cutest Gingerbread Aprons  for the girls from Oriental Trading and assembled them prior to the party, each girl had a personalized heart shaped pin  and  Chef Hats. The girls had a blast decorating the gingerbread houses! The table was set up as a “decoration station.” The girls got so creative and use so many different goodies that was available to decorate the house as well as to nibble on!
After the decorating, the girls had pizza, made gingerbread ornaments and dessert.  I found the cutest paper plates shaped as Gingerbread Houses to serve the goodies to the girls. The desserts were simple but cute! My oldest daughter decorated the Gingerbread House that was displayed in the center of the dessert table. The backdrop was made by covering 2 foam boards using wrapping paper. The cutest Gingerbread figures were displayed on the table along with some Candy Spindles. The girls enjoyed some gingerbread swirl pops, cupcakes, mini brownies,  jello and an assortment of candy that they filled their Gingerbread House Treat boxes with. It was a great way to get everyone into the holiday spirit!

New Years Eve Party Ideas

My inspiration for styling this NYE table came from Midnight Charade New Years Party Kit, a mix of black, gold and silver.
Having a NYE party sometimes can be daunting if you consider the very short recovery time between Christmas and New Year's. A mini tasting party is a fun and perfect way to serve appetizers and desserts at a dinner party.
Some of ideas for a mini tasting party are Caprese salad, mini Cesar Salad, a variety of mini quiches, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and goat cheese salad, a variety of olives and cheeses and of course desserts like mini cheesecakes.
To create the 2014 centerpiece, I used the Gold Flower Centerpiece and the silver cake numbers toppers.
As for favors, guests can take home a "Bubbly" inside their own "ice bucket" fill with "ice". To make these cute favors, I used the mini silver bowls filled with pearl white mini gum balls and added Champagne bubbles.
Set up the kids table with a lot of fun favors, like poppers, noise makers, 2014 glasses, fun mustaches, hats, masks and Champagne bubbles!
The kids will have a blast having their own ball drop! Hang a Disco Ball Piñata above the kids table for a fun display and sweet treats at the midnight!
Good music is a must at a NYE party!! I found Drew's Famous New Year's Bash CD at my local Party City on clearance for $2.50!!

Snowflake Peppermint Bark Kit

What a great value, fun and easy way to make Peppermint Bark!! I used the Peppermint Bark Kit from Party City and was a breezy to make these Snowflake Peppermint Bark
We made them for the teachers!
The Kit comes with everything for you to make 5 treats!

Holiday Peppermint Bark Kit includes:
  • 5 Snowflake cutters
  • 12oz Candy melts (6oz Dark Cocoa and 6oz Candy Cane Colorburst)
  • 2 Disposable Decorating Bags
  • 5 Gift bags
  • 5 Silver Ties
  • 5 Tags

If you’ve never made bark before this is the perfect kit for you.  The directions are on the back of the box and super easy to follow.
1. Take the brown and peppermint chocolates put them in the bags.
2. Cover a baking sheet with some wax paper, line the cookie cutters on top of the wax paper.
3. Place the brown chocolate in the microwave. Be careful not to burn them. Cut the tip off and start filling the cutters.
Place in fridge for 2 minutes or until hardened.
4. Next repeat with the peppermint chocolates. Fill over the other chocolate. Chill in refrigerator for 5 minutes.

My son wanted to help but the chocolate bags were a little too hot and hard for him to squeeze.

I had so much fun making them that I decided to make mini Peppermint Bark using mini cookie cutters!
They came out so cute!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

XOXO,

CRIS

Elf Bakery Shop - Cookie Decorating Party

We had a fun afternoon this weekend decorating cookies, having a Holiday Gift Exchange, sipping on hot chocolate and enjoying some yummy treats at our Elf Bakery Shop!
Our guests became "Elves" and had hard day at work decorating their cookies!
So FUN!!
Since the main event of our party was decorating cookies, I kept the sweet table simple but delicious! Most "Elves" took the sweetes home since they preferred to snack on their decorated cookies!
Some of our treats were cupcakes, Christmas trees cake pops(Little Debbie Christmas trees), sweet popcorn, cream puffs, Santa's Hat(strawberries) and chocolate covered mini Rice Krispies.
I used red mini gumballs to add a pop of colors on the sweet trays and of course everything came to life thanks to the cutest Elf printable set form Bird's Party!! She designed the perfect set specially for our party! Bird is the best!!
I covered 2 foam boards with kiwi polka dot wrapping paper and add some red fans to it. I displayed my cute Glitter trees on the table along with 2 centerpieces that I made using Holiday decor and added a Elf Hat headband on each one.
Now let's talk about the FUN part of the party!
The Cookie Decoration Station was filled with Holiday sprinkles, sparkle gels, icing tubes, and of course plenty of sugar cookies for them to decorate!
I baked the cookies the night before using a variety of Holiday cookie cutters. Each Elf received their own Elf Hat and decorated 7 cookies, nibbled on some and still had enough to take some home!
The bigger Elves did an amazing job decorating their cookies!
We also had a Holiday photo booth! We used the Santa's Workshop Wall Decoration as our backdrop.
