Notre Dame Party

We had a little party of five to watch Notre Dame playing against Alabama for the National Championship, unfortunately they lost big time! :(
It was heart breaking but at least we had some yummy food to keep us happy. I made some cake pops, ND chocolate letters, popcorn, wings, chips/dip and veggies. Now we have to wait until next year!

Welcome to our Pad, a party on a Budget!

A new school year is always exciting time for children specially if  it is their first time going to school. My youngest child started preschool last week and to help him with the transition, we had a fun Welcome to our Pad party!
The best part of all, is that I only spend $36!
I love to walk around the candy aisle and brainstorm on easy and affordable ways to bring some fun to the dessert table. Dollar Tree is always on my list for great finds and inspiration. It was at the Dollar Tree that I got the idea to do a Welcome to Our Pad party on a budget. A very cute theme that can be also used for a Frog Birthday Party theme. Most of the items that I used at the party came from the Dollar Tree. As you scroll dow, you will be able to see every detail from our party and the

For the backdrop, I used black wrapping paper, embellished with a polk a dot trimmer with the big frog in the center and the small frogs around with the names of the children that attended to the party.
For this party, I tried to keep the snacks simple but creative. For the sweet table, we enjoyed some erasers (Stacker Mallows),rulers(AirHead), chalk  (marshmallow confetti), chocolate frogs, apples and frog cupcakes and marshmallow paint brushes.
Before they enjoyed their sweets, the children munched on apple shaped whole wheat ham and cheese sandwiches, bookworm grapes and fruit punch.
One of my favorite DIY projects for this party is the crayon cupcake stand using crayons and paper towel roll! So easy to make and definitely made the cupcakes stand out! You can get the tutorial HERE.

I used the frog labels from the Dollar Tree to embellish the snack containers and personalize their drinks. I got alphabet stamps from Walmart scrapbook section for $1.
I already had the chalk place mats from Jill Celebration's, the kids played tic-tac-toe while munching on their snacks. You can also use 12x12 black scrapbook paper as place mats. Michael Stores often has a sale for 6 scrapbook papers for $1.
Just like class parties, I set up 3 Stations that included a Lace and Learn, Tangrams and color the puzzle.
I made the goodie bags using paper bags from the dollar tree and scrapbook paper. They came up so cute and inexpensive.

Make a Wish Birthday Party

When my sweet friend, Bird, invited me to contribute to her Spring/Summer issue of Bird’s Party magazine, I was thrilled, excited, honored and a bit nervous!
This was my first time ever taking part in such an amazing magazine!
Everything came together when I got the help from some very talented ladies!

Here are the details of Make a Wish Party for my daughter's 9th Birthday:

Inspired by dandelions on an open field, with a color scheme of aqua and white, I created a whimsical make a wish birthday party for my daughter's 9th Birthday.
Dandelions were the focus of this party with lots of DIY crafts and decorations.

The dessert table was full of yummy and incredible treats by fabulous vendors that made the sweet table stunning!
I used photo boxes with dandelion print on them to display the dandelion marshmallows and cake pops. I wanted to create the feeling that they were in a real dandelion field.

DIY dessert table backdrop: made out of foam board covered with fabric and I added the WISH banner from  Bird's Party Make a Wish collection.

I wanted to create a magical escape for the girls to enjoy their treats, make crafts and just simply enjoy each other's company. Using white fabric strips, fishing line and the trees as poles, I made a marquee in the back yard where I set up a table on the grass and used pillows as chairs. I decorated the marquee with DIY poms and paper lanterns.

Backyard Picnic - Family Time!

This past Saturday, I surprised my hubby and kids with a backyard picnic!!
While they were at the movies, I made all the yummy  treats! We had zucchini muffins, brigadeiros, strawberries, veggies, turkey subs and bruschettas.
They were so surprised and happy! We spent the afternoon playing ball, cornhole game, blowing bubbles and eating all the treats!
My husband is in charge of the cooking on the weekends, we barbecue almost every weekend so he HAD to bring his grill over and grill some delicious ribs!!
This was so fun to put together  just using items from our home and I only used what I already had in the fridge!
A fun, affordable and a great family time day! :)
