Peacock Party a Brazilian Celebration - Carnaval - 2013

Even though I live miles away from my native country of Brazil, we celebrated Carnaval this past weekend with a lot of confetti, samba, caipirinha, barbecue and brazilian sweets.

My friend Bird from Bird's Party designed the gorgeous printables mixing the brazilian colors(blue, green and yellow) with peacock designs.  To keep with the printable design, the sweet table was decorated with a lot of peacock feathers, peacock masks, peacock backdrop and matching tablecloth. The dessert included everything from brazilian sweets like the brigadeiro(kind of chocolate bonbon), docinho de coco(coconut bonbon), mini quindim(coconut custard), peacock cake pops by the very talented Samantha from Evie & Mallow Cake Pop & Party Shoppe, cupcakes, chocolate masks and some sweet candy.
As for appetizers, we enjoyed a cheese platter, bruschetta, salsa/dip and mozzarella basil tomato bites to name a few.  My husband was in charge of the grill and we had some delicious steak and chicken kabobs, sausage and chicken wings.
Our guests received masks and kit folia(party kit) with some poppers, streamers and mask tattoos upon arrival. Since this was also a kid friendly party, I set up a "Make your own Mask" Craft Station.
Our non brazilian friends were able to learn a little more about my culture while having fun!

Be Mine Valentine's Party

The inspiration for our Valentine's Party this year came from Paige Simple Studio gorgeous Valentine Day Collection. I just loved the color scheme that Kristen used on her designs. I found the bird ornaments on clearance at Walmart from 10cents each and knew I had to use them as backdrop/centerpiece for the party. As always, I tried to keep the desserts simple but cute and yummy. I bought store bought goodies and dressed them up. I transformed the Valentine's Cake into a Heart cake pop and the fancy cakes got a little fancier by drizzling some pink chocolate and heart sprinkles. They also enjoyed popcorn, heartmallows, white brigadeiro, chocolate covered fortunate cookies and heart shaped sandwiches. As for activities, the children made cute "Be Mine" bracelets and Valentine's mailboxes. The children made Valentine's messages for each child and "delivered" them inside their mailboxes.

The weather was perfect and the children had a lovely time!

YOU ARE A GREAT CATCH - FREE PRINTABLE

This week I was over  Amanda's Parties To Go blog sharing some cute Valentine's favor ideas using Amanda's LATEST VALENTINE FREEBIE!!
Here  are super easy ideas that will please boys and girls!
YOU ARE A GREAT CATCH!
Favor treats are always fun!
It makes me happy to give someone a cute little package that is handmade.

To package this treat you will need scrapbook paper(optional), FREE Valentine treat topper, clear bags, scissors and a stapler.
If you use the scrapbook inside the clear bags, make sure you cut the scrapbook paper slightly smaller than the bag. Place the swedish fish inside and place the treat bag topper over the ziploc bag. Staple to attach together on each side of the treat bag topper.

This one is my favorite!! How cute is this? For this one, just download the FREE Valentine Fish Bowl and cut.  Place the fish bowl printable inside a clear bag(I got mine at the Dollar Tree) and the red swedish fish. Tie with a cute bow and you are done! Super cute and easy!

To create this look, simply download the FREE Valentine treat toppers and glue it to the metal pails. I found the metal pails at the Dollar Tree(3 for $1). Fill the pails with red swedish fish. Easy peasy! Just the way I like it! ;)

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
XOXO,

CRIS

Girl Scouts Investiture Ceremony

Investiture and Re-Dedication Ceremony is a big part of Girl Scouts. The Ceremony is held to welcome new girls into Girl Scouting and for the girls that are already invested to reaffirm their belief in the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Because of the importance of these events, I wanted to give the girls a beautiful but meaningful ceremony.

We started the ceremony with a Flag Ceremony, welcomed the new girls with a Candle Light Ceremony, played a skit about Stereotype(current patch they are working on it) and closed the ceremony singing "Make New Friends".After the ceremony, the girls and their family enjoyed some light refreshments that included cake pops, trail mix, cake balls, brigadeiros de copinho(Brazilian chocolate dessert), sweet popcorn and lemonade.

As favors, the guests took home s'mores favors and each Girl Scouts received a Butterfly necklace. Since now they are Juniors, the butterfly necklace has a special meaning for them. As they get older, they are growing their wings to fly to higher places on their own. Scouting is a fun way to teach young ladies on how to make the world a better place.
